has been created for owners to voice their parking concerns, ask bylaw questions and to help create a positive forum to develop a fair parking system for “owners” which may influence favourable bylaw changes.
Below you will find some commonly asked questions and answers. We will add to this as concerns are raised.
FAQ:
Q: How many Parking spaces do owners have?
A: Most units have ONE space in front of their door. Six units have TWO spaces under their street-facing deck.
Q: How many extra parking spaces are there?
A: There are 96 additional ‘overflow’ spaces for cars and two for Motorcycles along the north and south side of the property
Q: Who can park in the available parking spaces
A: There is no bylaw that limits who can park in those spaces (Except for Commercial Vehicles) All overflow parking is for owners and visitors to use
Q: Where should I park if all spaces are taken? and
Q: I have an RV, where can I park?
A: You can park along both sides of 2nd Avenue at any time, along the east side of 4th Ave on non-school days and at night. You can also park along Springford Ave. (Just north and to the west of the property) except at the entrance to the school parking lot. So there are lot of opportunities for parking.
Q: How long can I stay parked in any one of the overflow spaces?
A: We currently have no bylaw limiting how long a car can occupy a parking space.
Q: Does my car need to be insured to park on the property?
A: Yes and No. All cars parked in the overflow spaces need to be registered and insured for road use. Cars parked in individual owner’s carports can be insured with only a storage policy. Owners must provide proof of insurance if requested by Management
Q: How can I report cars that are parked inappropriately?
A: You can send a message to parking@manoahvillage.ca, or to our property Manager NAV at nav@riverwestrealty.ca
Q: Are Commercial Vehicles allowed to park in the property? I see many cars that have commercial signage on them parked in our ‘overflow’ spaces
A: Our Bylaws state that Commercial Vehicles are not allowed in our parking area. But having signs on cars does not make them commercial vehicles in BC. The definition of ‘Commercial Vehicle’ in BC is a TAXI or a truck with a Registered Gross Vehicle Weight (RGVW) in excess of 4,500 kg or a bus with a designated seating capacity of more than 10 persons, including the driver. (According to ICBC and Transport Canada). That means the cars we see in our lot are generally NOT commercial vehicles. UNLESS they have an additional commercial vehicle plate attached – which allows these ‘cars’ to park in commercial parking zones.
